Columbus Day 2020

 Another year and another Columbus Day - the day my father had his seizure caused by a brain tumor that would later be diagnosed as cancer and claim his life. Not a day goes by when I don't think of you Appa. This year due to the Covid-19 pandemic we could not even do a proper Shradh ceremony for Appa. Sorry for not being able to perform this ceremony. Miss you a lot Dad!

RIP Marie

 Our parakeet, Marina aka "Marie", passed away this morning. She had been lethargic since yesterday and her sister, Emerald aka "Emmy" was trying to cheer her up. At night, Marie sat on the lowest perch in the cage and won't move from there. We were planning to take her to a vet to diagnose and cure her illness. Sadly when I woke up this morning, I found her lying on the floor of the cage. All of us are deeply saddened by her passing. She was the more active one of the two and would keep chirping loudly all the time, especially when we were on a conference call :-)

Poor Emmy kept looking all around the cage for her sister and kept calling out to her. She didn't eat or drink anything all day. It broke our heart to see her pining for her sister. All of us had tears in our eyes for poor Emmy. Manu's friend Duha's mom brought over their bird, Tweety, in the evening to keep Emmy company and help her get over her grief. Hopefully she will get better soon.

I still remember the day that we brought Marie and Emmy home, the day after Thanksgiving in 2014. Now our sweet little Marie is no more. We will always remember you sweetie. Rest in Peace.

Seven Years

It was seven years ago on this day that my father passed away. Not a day has gone by when I don't miss him. Love you dad.
